Installing ScoreCard Pro on your Palm Computing, IBM WorkPad, or Handspring Visor device requires the following:
1. A Palm Computing, IBM WorkPad, or Handspring Visor device with minimum 1 MByte of internal memory. ScoreCard Pro itself requires only 230K of memory to install.
2. Hotsync.exe (PC) or Hotsync Monitor (Macintosh).
3. Instapp.exe (PC) or InstallApp (Macintosh).
4. Connection to your Macintosh or PC.
INSTALLATION
Start by dragging this folder from the CDROM to your PC's hard disk.
1. Be sure HotSync/Hotsync Monitor is running on your PC or Macintosh.
2. Run the Instapp/InstallApp program on your computer. Select the correct User name for your Palm Computing, IBM WorkPad, or Handspring Visor device.
3. Click InstallApp's Select button and locate the ScoreCardPro.prc file inside the ScoreCard Pro folder on your hard disk.
4. Click the Install button to indicate that you want this file installed on your organizer during your next HotSync.
5. Place your organizer in the cradle and be sure it's connected to your PC or Macintosh.
6. Initiate the HotSync process.
STARTING SCORECARD PRO
1. Tap the Applications button on your organizer.
2. Find and tap the ScoreCard Pro icon.
3. You'll see an alert telling you that your serial number (which you haven't yet entered) doesn't match your User name. Tap OK and the Owner Information screen will appear.
4. Since you haven't purchased a serial number for ScoreCard Pro, you can use the software in its demo mode.
Here's how this works:
5. Enter your card name, handicap, and any other information
6. Tap the X button to exit this screen. You'll get another alert informing you that if you exit ScoreCard Pro to another Pilot application, all of the data you've entered will be erased and the default data will be restored. (The only way to avoid getting this alert is to purchase a serial number and enter it into the Serial # field in the Owner Information screen.)
7. Tap the OK button to display the scorecard screen.
8. Use ScoreCard Pro to try out the tutorial or on the golf course, and use all its features (setting up games and wagers, creating new courses, entering your own list of fellow golfers, recording and viewing your statistics, etc.).
In the demo mode, none of your data is stored permanently; when you exit ScoreCard Pro to use another application, any data you've created or modified will be erased and the default data will be restored.
You may purchase a serial number at any time and enter it into the Owner Information screen, and ScoreCard Pro will automatically change from the demo mode to the registered owner mode.

TERMINATION. You may terminate this license at any time by destroying or erasing your copies of the Software and all associated documentation. Upon termination of this License you agree to destroy or erase all copies of the Software.
COPYRIGHT. The Software, its graphical and visual designs, and associated documentation are protected by United States copyright laws and international conventions. You may make one copy of the Software for backup or archival purposes. You acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property in the Software is transferred to you. You further acknowledge that title, full ownership, and all intellectual property rights to the Software will remain the exclusive property of GolfIdeas and you will not acquire any rights to the Software except as expressly set forth in this License. You agree that any copies of the Software will contain the same proprietary notices that appear on and in the Software.
ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS. You may not sublicense, rent, lease, copy, loan, distribute, or transfer the Software to another party or disassemble, translate, or create derivative works based on the Software except as permitted in this License. You may permanently transfer all of your rights under this License only as part of a sale or transfer of your handheld computer or PDA, provided that you retain no copies in your possession, you transfer all of the Software and associated documentation, and the recipient agrees to the terms and conditions of this License. If the Software has been upgraded, any transfer must include all prior versions of the Software.
LIMITED WARRANTY. GolfIdeas warrants that, for a period of thirty (30) days from the original date of purchase, the Software will perform substantially as described in the accompanying documentation. This warranty does not cover damages caused by products not offered by GolfIdeas, or failures that result from accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, misapplication, alteration, modification or commercial use of the Software. Any implied warranty of the Software is limited to thirty days following the original purchase.
CUSTOMER REMEDIES. GolfIdeas' entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be, at GolfIdeas' sole option, (a) to terminate this License and refund your purchase price; or (b) to correct the error; or (c) to provide a workaround that eliminates or avoids the error. Any replacement Software will be warranted for an additional thirty (30) days after receipt of the Software.
NO OTHER WARRANTIES. Except as described under LIMITED WARRANTY, this Software is provided to you on an "as is" basis without any additional warranty of any kind. GolfIdeas does not warrant that the Software is error free or that it will meet your specific requirements. GolfIdeas does not warrant or make any representation regarding the use or the results of the use of the Software relative to (but not limited to) its correctness, accuracy, reliability, or other items. GolfIdeas disclaims all other warranties, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose with regard to the Software. GolfIdeas makes no express or implied warranty of noninfringement of third parties' rights.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. In no event shall GolfIdeas, its suppliers, resellers, or agents be liable to your for any consequential, special, incidental, or indirect damages of any kind arising out of the delivery, performance, or use of the Software, even if GolfIdeas has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event will GolfIdeas' liability for any claim, whether in contract, tort, or any other theory of liability, exceed the License fee, if any, paid by you.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties and limitations on the length of an implied warranty, or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights that vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
SEVERABILITY. In the even that any provision of this License is rendered invalid, the parties agree that such invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this License.
EXPORT CONTROL. None of the Software or associated documentation or technology may be downloaded or otherwise exported or reexported outside the United States except as authorized by United States law. By downloading or using the Software you are agreeing to the foregoing and you are representing and warranting that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any such country.
U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraphs (a) through (d) of the Commercial Computer - Restricted Rights clause at FAR 52.227-19 when applicable, or in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DFARS 252.227-7013, or at 252.211-7015, as applicable, and in similar clauses in the NASA FAR supplement. ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This License constitutes the entire agreement between you and GolfIdeas with respect to the use of the Software and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous understanding regarding such subject matter. No amendment to or modification of this License will be binding unless in writing and signed by GolfIdeas.
